St Lucia - Wedding Travel

Our Good Friends Mandy and Charlie decided to get married on an Island in the Caribbean, St. Lucia. Since we are always up for a trip, we booked a 5 night stay on St. Lucia. They got married on the beach at The Jalousie Plantation. It was an amazing resort, about a 45 minute drive from Vieux Fort, UVF airport, and about 1.5 hours from the airport in Castries (SLU). On a map the plantation and the airports don't seem that far, but trust me the roads in St. Lucia are very curvy. If you get car sick easily ask to sit in the front seat, because I have a strong stomach and I was left feeling queasy after that car/van ride.
We got to the Jalousie (like jealousy, but with an 'a') around 3:30pm. It was 85 and sunny. Our room was a Mountain View Suite. It was really cute, we were in the 400s which meant we were about a 10 minute walk downhill to the beach, and a 15 minute walk up hill from the beach. (The hill was a pretty steady climb, but you could wait for a free shuttle to pick up and drop you off.) We did both, but it was usually based on how much we had to carry. The suite was really cute, and had plenty of room for us. It had a king size bed, couch (with hide-a-bed), table, 2 chairs plus a desk. The bathroom was very spacious, included two fluffy robes and we had good water pressure both some of our friends said that they didn't have as good of pressure as we did. Oh and the shampoo smelled amazing!

Our friends arrived a few days before us, due to the law in St. Lucia that for a wedding to be valid the bride and groom have to be in the country for 3 business days before the wedding. So they were super excited when most of us showed up on Saturday afternoon. They invited us up to a sunset cocktail party on their Villa's patio.

The Jalousie, upgraded them to a Villa, since they were getting married. This Villa was just finished being built and they were the first people to stay in it. It was amazing!

After the sunset we went to dinner at the Bayside Bar & Grill. It's right on the beach, and had live music by a really good band. At the beach restaurant it's buffet style, and dinner was $58 per person, the food was OK, it's wasn't wonderful, but the grilled fish was pretty good.
