Santiago All Day Tour

January 7th, My Birthday!!!!

We scheduled an all day tour of Santiago with a tour group About Chile. We have to admit that this has to be the best tour we have been on. It was private, just Jayson & I, a driver and our english speaking guide. About 50% of the tour was in the car, and 50% was on foot.

We went all over the city. We started with a trip to St. Christobal hill, which is a State Park. We went up the Furnicular and walked around the top to see the views of the city. Then we walked to the very top to see the statue of the Virgian Mary.

From there we walked over to the cable cars, which looked something out of the Jetson's. We took this over to the top of the other hill in the park, where our car was waiting for us.

Then we drove around a little looking at different nighborhoods and to the Plaza Las Armas, which is the center of the city.

From there we went for lunch in the Fish Market. Not as big or as fun and the Fish Market in Seattle, but still very colorful.
This big guy is the Centioa, The Red Spikey Crab, that we had with GC and S in Val paraiso. We didn't have it today, but the people next to us did, and 1 of them feed 4-6 people!

Check out the size of this corn!!!

After the market we went to the top of Santa Lucia, a very important hill hill in Santiago. We walked all around and saw the Castle at the top. (It's not really a castle.)

After all the sight seeing we went to a very nice shop to get some Lapilazul (Lapis), it's the Gem of Chile. I purchased a bracelet and a pair of earinings, there were nice. Jayson got a penguine made of Lapis, to go with our Jade animals from Alaska.

After a long day of touring Santiago with a guide, Jayson and I set out on our own. We picked up a few gifts and some candy to share with people from home. Then tonight we went out for a nice dinner for my Birthday.

We didn't take any pictures of the food, but trust me, it was amazing and once again I'm so full on Sea food, I could burst. We found out why Chile doesn't eat Beef and they mostly eat fish. It's because their beef is tough as they are so hilly that their cows need big muscels to walk around the fields, so they import their beef from Argentina where the land if flat.
thanks for the Birthday wishes in Facebook. We only have 30 minutes left of battery life, so this could be the last entry. See everyone soon!
Love
N & J
