Dec 30th - unexpected day at sea

The last time I blogged I mentioned we were having a problem getting the ship away from the dock, but we didn’t realize that the wind would continue to be an issue on the trip. Overnight we headed to Punta Arenas and the wind and waves were strong the entire time. We arrived to Punta Arenas, Chile about 2 ½ hours later that expected, only to find out that the city had closed the port due to the high winds. It made it unsafe for our ship and others to enter the port. This was unfortunate because we had a very cool hike planned in the national park. But We were thankful that we had decided to book this tour with the ship, (Something we almost didn’t do). The ship hung around outside the port for a few hours, but then finally the Capitan made a decision to leave. Here are some pictures of the coast line.

The city seemed really large, it to bad we didn’t get to see it.

This night was also the Murder Mystery Dinner, Jayson and I had never done one before so we figured we would check it out and it was fun. It started with appetizers in one of the lounges, where we were introduced to the cast of characters. Basically there was a love triangle, a stolen necklace and a jealous brother. Then 4 gunshots and someone was killed…
We moved our dinner into Portofino’s restaurant where there was another scene. We then were able to discuss the mystery with our table and start to figure out’ who did it”. Then each table could ask 1 question of the characters to help with their answers. At the end each person guessed and the winners names were put into a hat and 1 lucky winner took home a bottle of wine. I had the correct person, but I didn’t win the wine.
